Manolis Alygizakis

Manolis Aligizakis was born in 1947 in the village of Kolymbari, Chania, Crete. He studied Political Science at Panteion University. He is a Greek-Canadian poet, translator, and author, recognized as the most prolific poet-writer of the Greek diaspora. At the age of eleven, he transcribed the renowned epic-romantic poem EROTOKRITOS, which was recently published in a limited edition of 100 numbered copies, available at the price of 5,000 Canadian dollars for discerning collectors of rare books. It is the most expensive book of its kind in the world. Recently, he was appointed an honorary professor and associate of the International Arts Academy and was awarded the honorary title of Master of the Arts in Literature. Born in the village of Kolymbari, west of Chania, Crete, in 1947, his family moved during his childhood first to Thessaloniki and then to Athens, where he earned a degree in Political Science from Panteion University. He served his military service for two years before emigrating to Vancouver, Canada, where he continues to reside. He studied English Literature at Simon Fraser University. He has written three novels, a large number of poetry books that have begun to be published in recent years, as well as numerous articles, short stories, and essays in both English and Greek, which have been published in literary magazines, anthologies, and newspapers. He currently lives in a suburb of Vancouver, where he continues his writing endeavors. Around the end of 2006, he founded the publishing house Libros Libertad, with the aim of publishing literary books.
