Caroline Criado Perez

Caroline Criado Perez (1984) is a British feminist activist and journalist. Her first campaign, Women’s Room, focused on better representation of female experts in the media. She subsequently opposed the removal of the only woman from British banknotes, leading the Bank of England to announce that Jane Austen's image would appear on the ten-pound note by 2017. This campaign resulted in ongoing harassment of Perez and other women on Twitter. For her work on issues of equality and multiculturalism, she was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 2015. Her articles are published in many major British media outlets, most frequently in the "New Statesman" and the "Guardian," and she often appears as a commentator on television and radio. She studied English Literature at the University of Oxford and Behavioral and Feminist Economics at the LSE. Her first book, "Do It Like A Woman," was published in 2015.
