Uwe Timm

Uwe Timm was born in 1940 in Hamburg. After finishing high school, he apprenticed as a furrier. In 1963, he completed his secondary education in Braunschweig. He studied philosophy and German philology in Munich and Paris. He earned his doctorate with a dissertation on "The Problem of the Absurd." In 1989, he was awarded the Munich City Literature Prize, and in 1990, he received the German Children's Book Prize for "Rennschwein Rudi Ruessel." He lives in Munich.
