Martina Hefter
Martina Hefter, born in 1965 in Pfronten, Allgäu (southern Bavaria), lives and works as a writer and performer in Leipzig. Her works combine movement and text methods, and she is a member of the Leipzig performers' association, Pik 7. Her recent poetry collections include "On Walking and Standing. A Guide" (kookbooks 2013), "Monsters. Plays/Poems" (kookbooks 2016), and "It Could Also Be Nice" (kookbooks 2018). Her recent performances include Writing Ghosts, an installation as part of Step – Text at the Berlin Literary Symposium (2015); the dance theater piece "When I Lift This River" at the Dance Step by Step festival in Graz (together with Jana Rath, 2016), where she adapted part of the "Monsters" collection into dance form; and in 2017 with the Pik 7 association, the performance "Imagine You Have Chickens, While You Want Roses." Additionally, she participated as an actress in Tino Sehgal's theater piece "These Associations." For her poetic work, she has been awarded the Munich Poetry Prize (2018), the Merano Poetry Prize (2008), and the Lessing New Poet Award of the state of Saxony (2005).
