American author, screenwriter, and director Stephen Chbosky was born in 1970 in Pennsylvania, USA. After graduating from school, he met Stewart Stern, the screenwriter of the film "Rebel Without a Cause," who became his mentor and influenced his writing career. In 1995, he wrote and directed his first film, "The Four Corners of Nowhere," which participated in the independent Sundance Film Festival. He then worked as a screenwriter for television series and, in 1999, published the semi-autobiographical novel "The Perks of Being a Wallflower." Following the immense success of "The Perks," he wrote the screenplay and directed the film adaptation himself, starring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, and Ezra Miller, which was released in 2012 and quickly became a cult classic. In 2017, he directed the drama film "Wonder," featuring Jacob Tremblay, Julia Roberts, and Owen Wilson. In October 2019, his new novel titled "Imaginary Friend" was published.
