Nicola Pugliese

Nicola Pugliese (1944-2012) was born in Milan but spent most of his life in Naples working as a journalist. In 1977, his novel "Dark Water" was published by the renowned publishing house Einaudi, following a recommendation by Italo Calvino. Although it achieved great success, it was not republished by the author's choice. In the 1980s, Pugliese left Naples and retired to the province of Avellino. In 2008, he published a collection of short stories, and in 2012, after Pugliese's death, "Dark Water" was re-released.
