Apostolos Sachinis

Apostolos Sachinis (1919-1997) was born in Athens. He was a university professor, literary critic, and academic. He studied law, philology, and political-economic sciences at the University of Athens. His first publications on literature appeared in the magazine "Ta Nea Grammata" (1944). Subsequently, focusing on modern Greek prose and the theory of criticism, he authored numerous related articles and studies in magazines, yearbooks, and newspapers ("Nea Estia," "Anglo-Hellenic Review," "Epoches," "Nea Poreia," among others). His contribution to literary criticism in the last decades of the 20th century was highly regarded, and among other honors, he was awarded the State Essay Prize three times (1958, 1966, 1982).
