Kapka Kassabova

The author and poet Kapka Kassabova was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1973. She emigrated with her family to New Zealand in the early 1990s and has been living permanently in Scotland since 2005. Her native language is Bulgarian, but she writes in English. Her first poetry collection, "All Roads Lead to the Sea" (1997), was awarded in New Zealand, and her first novel, "Reckoning" (1999), won the Commonwealth Writers' Prize. "Border," among other accolades, was honored in 2018 with the Highland Book Prize and the Award for Global Cultural Understanding.
