Carl Chinn

Professor Carl Chinn is a social historian, author, speaker, and educator. A bookmaker in illegal betting himself until 1984, he is the son and grandson of illegal bookmakers from Birmingham. His mother's family consisted of industrial workers from Aston, in the same city. His writings, which have garnered a large readership, are deeply influenced by his family's working-class background and life in the slums of Birmingham. He passionately believes that history should be democratized because every person has left their mark on it and has a story to tell.
