THanasis Vempos

Thanasis Vempos was born in 1963 in Athens. He studied computer programming and public health before pursuing a professional career as a researcher and journalist. He has translated numerous scientific books and articles, and has published hundreds of articles on topics such as space technology, astronautics-astronomy, economics, and the impact of technology on human society and psychology. He is fluent in English and Russian. He participated with the Greek team in the final selection phase of candidates for the West in Space '97 program in collaboration with the Russian Space Agency. He has published two science fiction books ("Cyberpunk Stories," Aurora Publications - "Five Cracks in the Network," Livani Publications). His short story "The Children of Cronus" won the first prize for Greek science fiction short stories (Golden Icaromenippus) in 1996. Science fiction is one of his main "obsessions," along with Space, the future, cybernetics, unexplained phenomena, biotechnology, international politics, economics, and ethnology. In addition to all these interests, he also finds time to engage in martial arts, autonomous diving, winter skiing, and rock 'n' roll.
