Philippe Djian
Philippe Djian was born in Paris on June 3, 1949. He studied journalism for two years and then worked in various jobs: as a porter in Le Havre, a warehouseman at "Gallimard" publishing, a night toll collector, and a reporter for "Detective". Wanting to try out the typewriter that a friend gave him, he began writing the short stories in the collection "50 conte 1". He has written 15 works, including "Bleu comme l'enfer", "Maudit Manege", "Sotos", and "Sainte-Bob". His breakthrough to a wider audience came in 1985 with the film adaptation of "Betty Blue" by Jean-Jacques Beineix. Translated into twenty countries, the novel achieved unprecedented success. With "Doggy Bag", he invented a new genre by applying the codes of television series to the novel. He has lived in Biarritz, Boston, Florence, Bordeaux, and Lausanne. Today, he resides with his family in the 7th arrondissement of Paris.
