Jeanette Winterson

Jeanette Winterson was born in Manchester in 1959. Her first book, "Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit," won the Whitbread Award for Best First Novel. This was followed by eight other novels, including "The Passion," "Written on the Body," "The Powerbook," and "Lighthousekeeping," the short story collection "The World and Other Places," the essay "Art Objects," and the children's story "The King of Capri." Her works have been adapted for television, film, and theater, and are available in 32 countries. She lives in Oxfordshire and London.
