Jeff VanderMeer
Jeff VanderMeer is an award-winning novelist, editor, and critic. Born in the Fiji Islands, he currently resides in Tallahassee, Florida, with his wife. He is considered one of the leading figures in speculative fiction both in the United States and internationally. However, his books are multifaceted and resist easy categorization. The prestigious American magazine The New Yorker has dubbed him the "weird Thoreau," indicating that his broader vision and the quality of his writing transcend the boundaries of a specific narrative genre. With the Southern Reach Trilogy (the novels Annihilation, Authority, and Acceptance, published by Kastaniotis Editions and translated by Michalis Makropoulos), he achieved great success and was translated into more than 35 languages. The first book, in particular, won the significant Nebula and Shirley Jackson Awards and was adapted into a film by Alex Garland. With "Borne" (2017), he opened an exciting new chapter in his work.
