Domna - Mika Kakana
Domna-Mika Kakana was born in Thessaloniki. She studied Pedagogy at the Department of Early Childhood Education at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.) and then pursued a Master's degree (DEA) and a Doctorate in the Department of Educational Sciences (Sciences de l’ Education) at the University of Human Sciences in Strasbourg (U.S.H.S.). She is married and the mother of Menelaos and Stella. She served as a professor in the Department of Preschool Education at the University of Thessaly (1991-2015), specializing in "Theory of Preschool Education." During her tenure, she held several positions including Chair of the Department (2009-2011), Deputy Chair of the Department of Preschool Education (2004-06), Director of the Postgraduate Program "Pedagogical Play & Material in Early Childhood" (2004-2011), Director of the Laboratory of Theoretical & Applied Pedagogy (2000-2015), President of the Thessaly Branch of the Pedagogical Society of Greece (2006-2010), and elected member of the University of Thessaly's Foundation Council (2013-2015). Since October 2015, she has been a professor in the same field at the Department of Early Childhood Education and Care at A.U.Th. She is the author (alone or in collaboration) of approximately 120 articles published in Greek and international scientific journals, conference proceedings, and edited volumes with peer review. More than 140 of her works (independent or collaborative) have been presented at conferences (international or Greek) and other scientific events. She is the author of four books and has been the primary editor of four other collective volumes. She is the Scientific Director of numerous educational and research programs, a reviewer for Greek and international journals, and has participated as an Evaluator in many programs. She is also a certified Trainer of Trainers (E.KE.PIS and E.O.P.P.E.P.), with extensive experience in Adult Education.
