
Antonis S. Vasilakis
Born in Knossos, Heraklion, the author studied archaeology and art history at the University of Thessaloniki and holds a Ph.D. in prehistoric archaeology from the University of Crete. Since 1978, they have been serving at the Archaeological Service of Heraklion. The author has participated in and directed dozens of systematic and rescue excavations, as well as other archaeological research projects throughout Crete since 1971. They are a member of the archaeological societies of Athens and Crete and have presented papers at all Cretan Studies conferences and other international and local archaeological conferences since 1981.
The author has written eighteen books on the history, archaeology, and culture of Crete and has published dozens of scientific studies on the archaeology and culture of Crete in Greek and international archaeological journals. They teach at the Higher Technological Institute of Crete, the School of Tourist Guides of Crete, and the Vocational Training Institutes.
