
Vagelis CHatzivasileiou
Vangelis Chatzivasileiou was born in Athens in 1959. He studied Political Science and Regional Economics. From 1985 to 1991, he worked as a literary critic for the newspaper "Avgi" and collaborated with the newspapers "Proti" and "Kathimerini." He then spent two decades at "Eleftherotypia," and from 1998 to 2009, he was part of the editorial team for the supplement "Bibliothiki." From 2005 to 2011, he co-hosted the television program "Books in the Box" with Katerina Schina for ET1. In recent years, he has been collaborating with "Vima tis Kyriakis" and working at the Athens-Macedonian News Agency as a book editor. He is a member of the editorial team of the online magazine "O Anagnostis" and collaborates with the monthly review "Books’ Journal."
He has published essays and critical studies in literary magazines and collective volumes and has edited literary anthologies. His studies include "Miltos Sachtouris: The Bypass of Surrealism" (Estia Bookstore, 1992) and "Odosema: Orientation Elements in the Landscape of Modern Greek Literature" (Kastaniotis, 1999). His anthologies include "Contemporary Greek Prose Writers, 1974-1990" (with Elisavet Kotzia, Patakis, 1995) and "Anthology of Greek Poetry: 20th Century" (with Kostas G. Papageorgiou, four volumes, Kotinos, 2007-2013).
He has taught literary criticism at the Book Workshop of EKEBI and has been a member of the editorial team of the English-language magazine "Ithaca," published by EKEBI.
