Leia CHatzopoulou - Karavia

Born in Athens, she studied theater, English and Greek philology, French, German, Spanish, Russian, and other languages. She holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Sorbonne. She has published 49 books: 10 poetry collections, 23 prose works, and 16 plays for adults and young audiences. Many of her works have been translated, published, or released in other countries and have been performed on television, radio, or theater both in her home country and abroad. She has also translated works from various languages. She teaches literature and theater courses and directs the "Nea Smyrni Theater Workshop." She frequently participates in international conferences. Since 1996, she has organized international theater studies conferences in Greece every two years as the president of the European Institute of Theater Research in Greece. She is the President of the International Playwrights Forum of the I.T.I. of UNESCO.
