Terry Pratchett

Terry Pratchett was born in 1948 in Buckinghamshire. He worked for several years as a journalist. In 1971, he published his first novel, "The Carpet People." The first book in the Discworld series, "The Colour of Magic," was published in 1983. From 1987 onwards, he dedicated himself exclusively to writing. He wrote over 70 books, 40 of which are novels in the "Discworld" series, and he is considered a genius of humorous fantasy literature. His books have been translated into dozens of languages and have sold more than 70 million copies worldwide. In 2009, he was knighted (Sir) for his services to literature. Two years earlier, he had announced that he was suffering from Alzheimer's disease. He passed away at his home on March 12, 2015, at the age of 66.
