Noam Chomsky was born in 1928 in Pennsylvania, USA. He is globally recognized as a political activist, author, and Professor Emeritus of Linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he began teaching in 1955. He has written and taught on linguistics, philosophy, and politics. His works include the books: "Powers and Prospects," "New and Old World Order," "Deterring Democracy," "Manufacturing Consent" (with E.S. Herman), "Year 501: The Conquest Continues," "Profit Over People," "The New Military Humanism," "New Horizons in the Study of Language and Mind," "Rogue States," and "A New Generation Draws the Line." He remains one of the most prominent representatives of "leftist" American thought. His efforts to expand democracy and advocate for a non-violent superpower have been honored worldwide by peace and social justice movements.
