Anna Lydaki

Anna Lydaki was born in Heraklion, Crete. She studied pedagogy in Heraklion and Athens and sociology at Panteion University. She submitted her doctoral dissertation in social folklore at the University of Athens (Department of Primary Education). Currently, she is an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology at Panteion University, where she teaches qualitative methods of social research and social folklore. She has authored the books: "Balame and Roma: The Gypsies of Ano Liosia," Athens 1997, "The Gypsies in the City: Growing Up in Agia Varvara," Athens 1998, "Qualitative Methods of Social Research," Athens 2001, "Through the Camera: Cinema and Social Reality," Athens 2009, 2012. She has published articles in collective volumes, journals, and newspapers. Her books on the Gypsies have been translated into Hungarian.
