
Vasilis Papageorgiou
Vasilis Papageorgiou (Thessaloniki 1955) is an author and translator. Since 1975, he has been living in Sweden. He has translated into Greek the works of Willy Kyrklund, Eva Runefelt, Magnus William-Olsson, Tomas Transtromer (the complete collection of poems), and John Ashbery. Into Swedish, he has translated (together with collaborators) works by Odysseas Elytis, John Ashbery, Thanasis Valtinos, Kenneth Koch, all the poems and fragments of Sappho (annotated edition), and an annotated collection of unpublished poems and prose by Constantine Cavafy. His essays, book reviews, and literary texts have appeared in Greek, Swedish, and British journals. He is a professor of comparative literature, creative writing, and dramaturgy at Linnaeus University in Southern Sweden.
