Betty Mahmoody

Betty Mahmoody
Betty Mahmoody was a divorced housewife when she met Dr. Mahmoody at Carson City Hospital, where she was hospitalized for a period. Their relationship led to marriage, and they had a daughter named Mahtob. Four years later, they decided to visit Moody's family in Tehran. He decided they would stay there permanently and began to act like a tyrant, keeping his wife and daughter almost as captives. Through superhuman efforts and indescribable adventures, Betty Mahmoody managed to escape with her daughter and return to America. In collaboration with William Hoffer, she wrote and published the book "Not Without My Daughter," which was later adapted into a film. Since then, she has been involved with issues concerning children from similar marriages and founded the organization "One World for Children." She travels around the world giving lectures on this subject.
