Neni Eythymiadi

Neni Efthymiadi (1946 - 2008) was born in Athens. She studied law at the University of Thessaloniki and became an Athens lawyer in 1970. From 1973, she systematically engaged in prose writing. She published nine novels and participated in many collective publications with shorter prose works. A plethora of her short stories, essays, and articles were published in daily newspapers and literary magazines. Occasionally, she also engaged in critical reviews of Greek or foreign authors. She translated essays from French, German, and English, as well as poetry by American William Meredith (Pulitzer Prize 1988). Since 1992, she was a member of the Board of Directors of the Panhellenic Cultural Movement, co-responsible for organizing events around literature, theory, contemporary issues, or representing it at international socio-political conferences. Some of her works became subjects of study at universities, conferences, or theoretical books. She passed away in Athens on October 29, 2008, at the age of 62, after battling cancer.
