
Manos Kontoleon
Born in Athens in 1946 to parents from Smyrna, Manos Kontoleon studied Physics at the University of Athens but has been involved in literature since his childhood, publishing his writings in the magazine "Diaplasi ton Paidon." He made his first appearance in the literary world in 1969 by participating in an anthology of young prose writers, and ten years later, he published his first book. Manos Kontoleon engages with all forms of prose: novels, novellas, short stories, fairy tales, and essays. He is a regular contributor to various magazines and newspapers (such as Avgi, Vima, Diavazo, Tram, Porphyra, Lexi, etc.), where he publishes reviews, articles, and literary texts. He is a member of the editorial board of the magazine "Diadromes in the Field of Literature for Children and Young People." Kontoleon writes scripts for children's television programs focusing on books and frequently gives talks on the challenges and goals of literature for children and young people. His books have been awarded by the Hellenic Authors' Society and the Circle of the Greek Children's Book. His writings (short stories and articles) are included in various anthologies of prose and essays. Manos Kontoleon lives in Athens with his wife and their two children.
