Maria Lampadaridou - Pothou

Maria Lampadaridou-Pothou was born in Myrina, Lemnos. She holds degrees from Panteion University and the Sorbonne, where she studied theater on a scholarship from the French Government. She has published 37 books, including poetry, novels, short stories, and essays. Additionally, she has written plays, which have been performed in Greece and abroad. Her books have been translated and published in French, Swedish, and English, and are taught at universities in Greece and internationally. She has been honored with several awards: the Ouranis Foundation Award in 1995 for the novel "With the Storm Lantern," the Academy of Athens Award in 1987 for the novel "Maroula of Lemnos," and the Group of Twelve Award in 1996 for her overall work. Her poetry collection "Secret Passage" was nominated by the Ministry of Culture for the European Prize in 1991. Her novel "With the Storm Lantern" received the Academy of Athens Prose Award in 1994. She collaborates with daily newspapers and literary magazines.
