Vaclav Smil

Vaclav Smil is a professor at the University of Manitoba. His research focuses on energy, environmental change, food production, technological innovation, risk assessment, and public policy—topics on which he has written over forty books and a hundred studies. Nature, the world’s most authoritative scientific journal, has reviewed more of Smil’s works than those of any other living author. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and in 2010, Foreign Policy ranked him among the world’s top 100 thinkers.
