Iakovos Michailidis

Iakovos Michailidis serves as a Professor of Modern and Contemporary History. During the academic year 2012-2013, he was a Visiting Professor at the University of Cyprus. In the academic year 2019-2020, he received a Fulbright scholarship and was a Visiting Researcher at George Washington University. In the same year, he was an Academic Visitor at the University of Oxford. He has worked as an Expert on the Western Balkans for the Economic and Social Committee of the European Union. He is the head of the Research Center of the Society for Macedonian Studies and a member of numerous Greek and European scientific networks and organizations, such as the European thematic history network Clioh/Cliohnet. He served as a historical consultant (along with Professor Thanos Veremis) for the SKAI TV series "1821," the historical documentary "Twice a Stranger" aired by NET television, and the historical documentary "Greece's Decade of War 1912-1923" broadcasted by Cosmote History. He has also curated historical features for SKAI 100.3 radio, covering topics such as the Balkan Wars, the Asia Minor Campaign, Eleftherios Venizelos, the Occupation, and the Civil War.
