M. W. Craven

M.W. Craven was born in Carlisle but grew up in Newcastle, from where he ran away at the age of just sixteen to join the army. He spent the next ten years traveling the world until 1995, when he decided to complete his studies in social work, specializing in criminology and addiction. Thirty-one years after leaving Cumbria behind, he returned to take up a position as a probation officer in Whitehaven, a role he left sixteen years later to dedicate himself to writing. Now, the motivations driving him to delve into the minds of criminals are entirely different. "The Puppet Show," his first novel featuring the character Washington Poe, was published in multiple countries and received warmly by both readers and critics. The author now lives with his wife in Carlisle. When he's not out walking his Springer Spaniel or chatting at the local pub, you might find him at a punk concert or a literary festival.
