Kyriakos Rokos

Kyriakos Rokos, son of Cleanthis and Pelagia, was born in Ioannina in May 1945. He studied sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Arts under the guidance of Yiannis Pappas and later, with a scholarship from the Academy of Athens, worked in Paris alongside Kostas Koulentianos and in the workshop of César at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. From 1972 to 2007, he held thirty-one solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad and participated in numerous group and international exhibitions. His works can be found in public spaces in Athens, Piraeus, Ioannina, Naxos, Thessaloniki, Katerini, Karditsa, Amaliada, Lesvos, Kalamata, Chios, Luxembourg, and Sweden. He collaborated with the Art Theater of Karolos Koun, the National Theater, and the Regional Theater of Ioannina. Since 1975, his writings have been published in newspapers and magazines. He has published the books: "Sketches" (1972), "Imprints 1967-1975" (1978), "Travels with a Ballpoint Pen" (APIVITA, 1994), "A Dangerous Sculptor" (Kastaniotis Editions, 1996), "Sculpture in Public View" (2002), "31 Sketches and 1 Sculpture Seeking a Poet" (2005), and "The Butterfly of Insensborn" (2008). Between 1981 and 1983, he taught freehand drawing at the Vakalo School. He is a professor of plastic arts in the Department of Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art at the T.E.I. of Athens.
