Gaston Leroux

Gaston Leroux, a French author and journalist, was born in 1868 in Paris and passed away in 1927 in Nice. He initially worked as a court reporter for the Paris newspaper "L'Écho" and later as a theater critic. In 1905, as an official correspondent for the newspaper "Le Matin," he traveled to Russia to cover the first uprisings against the Tsar. In 1907, he left journalism to focus on writing books. He authored numerous novels and some plays. His first book was "The Mystery of the Yellow Room," while his most famous work is "The Phantom of the Opera," which has been adapted for the stage many times and inspired numerous films. In 1919, Leroux founded his own film production company. Other works by him include "The Man Who Saw the Devil," "The Haunted Chair," and "The Double Life of Théophraste Longuet."
