
Dimitris L. Konstantaras
Dimitris Konstantaras was born in Athens in 1946. He completed high school in the United States and studied at the School of Philosophy at the University of Athens. During his studies, he worked as a tour guide, translator, English teacher, and musician in Greek rock bands of the '60s and '70s. He is the son of actors Lambros Konstantaras and Youli Georgopoulou, and is married to Vicky, with whom he has a daughter, Pavlina, and a son, Lambros. He has been a journalist since 1969, working in newspapers, magazines, radio, online, and television. He wrote his first book, "The History of Formula 1," in 1970, co-authored with Pavlos Alepis, published by Kaktos. He published another book twenty-seven years later. He has composed music for films and theater, written songs, plays, film and TV scripts, poems, and fairy tales. In 1993, he was awarded the Ipekci Prize for his work in television. He was actively involved in the vision of hosting and organizing the Olympic Games in Athens, both in the unsuccessful bid of 1989-90 for the Golden Olympics and in 1996-97 for Athens 2004. In October 2002, he was elected as the top-voted regional councilor of Athens and subsequently served as a Member of Parliament for Athens A.
