Guillaume Apollinaire

Wilhelm Apollinaris de Kostrowitsky, known as Guillaume Apollinaire, was born in Rome in 1880 and died in Paris in 1918. A pioneer of the Paris School, he was an avant-garde poet of Peace and War, a forerunner of surrealism, a close friend of Picasso, and an advocate of cubism and all new art movements. He remains to this day the most famous representative of an era dedicated to the renewal of poetic expression and artistic creation. His contribution holds the privilege of uniqueness. Despite its immense influence, it could not find noteworthy imitators.
