THemis Liveriadis

Themis Liveriadis (1940) was born in Thessaloniki, where he studied law and industrial costing. Since 1998, he has been residing in Athens. Professionally, he worked in a private business (1966-1979) and from 1980 to 1996, he owned the traditional restaurant "Ragias." He was a member of the editorial committee and a producer of literary events for "Thessaloniki, European Capital of Culture 1997." He served as a cultural advisor at the Ministry of National Defense (1998-2003) and has contributed to various print and electronic magazines and newspapers. He made his literary debut in 1962 when he won the first poetry prize from the Panhellenic Student Association, judged by Vrettakos, Elytis, and Ritsos, and in 1965 when "Epoches" published his first short story. In 1972, during the dictatorship, he was tried for his prose work "The Dream" in the magazine "Tram." In 2000, he was awarded an honorary distinction by the Union of Publishers of Northern Greece for his contribution to Greek literature. He is a member of the Society of Authors (www.dedalus.gr), the Literary Society of Thessaloniki, and the European Council of Authors and Translators "Three Seas' Waves" (www.tswtc.org). Eight of his books have been published, five of which are poetry collections.
