
Jean Baudrillard
Jean Baudrillard (1929 - 2007) was born in Reims, France. He studied German philology and spent his youth in Germany. Upon returning to France, he taught sociology at the University of Paris-X Nanterre. He collaborated with the magazine "Les Temps Modernes" and was a member of the editorial boards of the journals "Utopie" and "Traverses." Baudrillard authored approximately fifty books and was renowned for his critique of consumer society's mechanisms. He was a philosopher, sociologist, political commentator, and photographer. His works have been translated into many languages. He passed away at his home in Paris after a "long illness" in March 2007.
