Panos Ioannidis

Panos Ioannides was born in 1935 in Famagusta and attended the Pancyprian Gymnasium. He worked in journalism, served as a public servant, and was a radio show producer for Cyprus Broadcasting. In 1967, after studying media operations at Syracuse University in the USA and in Canada, he became the assistant director of Cyprus Television. In the literary field, he primarily focused on prose but also published poems and plays. In 1969, he was awarded the first prize for Cypriot prose. His novels, short stories, and plays have earned him three State Prizes from the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus, the Teucer Anthias and Theodosis Pierides Awards, the award from the Cyprus Theatre Organization, and the award from the Cyprus Playwrights' Association. His play "Gregory" was awarded at the Pan-European Theatre Festival in Sofia in 1976. In 2007, he received the Cyprus Republic's Letters Award.
