Giorgos A. Raytopoulos

George Rautopoulos was born in Velina, Corinthia. He studied Political Science and Sociology. He served as General Secretary and President of the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE), a member of the Executive Committee of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU), a member of the Economic and Social Committee (ESC) of the European Communities, and a Member of the European Parliament, where he was active as Vice-President of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on European Culture, Youth, Education and Media - Development and Cooperation and Petitions. He also served as General Secretary of the Ionian Islands Region. He is the author of the books "Tomorrow: A Solidarity Society," published in 1999 by A.A. Livani Publishing, "Another World is Possible," published in 2005 by Odysseas Publishing, "Nights in Pleurona," published in 2010 by Papazisis Publishing, "Once Upon a Time the Unions," published in 2011 by Papazisis Publishing, among others.
