
Giorgos Anomeritis
George Anomeritis was born in Athens to parents from the Cyclades. He is well-known for his political activity, having served as a member of parliament for 14 years and as a minister four times. He has held positions as a bank governor and has led both private and public enterprises and organizations. Of Cycladic descent from both parents, he fought against the dictatorship as a student. He was sentenced to 145 years in prison and remained a political prisoner for four years. A renowned economist, he has authored dozens of scientific and literary works, including six poetry collections. He has been honored by the State for his efforts and has received the "Ipekci" Peace and Friendship Award, the Golden Palm of the Holy Sepulchre, and numerous ecclesiastical, political, and social distinctions. Actively involved in Cycladic affairs, he presented his books in 2009, including "Byzantine Park of Tragaia Naxos" (Militos, 2009), "Octanema" (poems 1997-2009, Gavriilidis Editions), "Saint Catherine of Oia" (Militos, 2009), "The Castle of Naxos and its Churches" (Militos, 2010), "Naxos and the Small Cyclades from Above" (Militos, 2010), and "The Monasteries of the Cyclades" (Militos, 2011).
