Panos D. Valavanis

Panos Valavanis was born in Athens in 1954. He studied in the Department of History and Archaeology at the University of Athens and at the Archaeological Institute of the University of Wurzburg in Germany. Since 1980, he has been working at the University of Athens, initially as a research associate, then as a lecturer from 1988, as an assistant professor from 1994, as an associate professor from 2000, and currently as a full professor of classical archaeology. His doctoral dissertation and most of his studies focus on ancient Greek ceramics and vase painting, the architecture and topography of Athens, ancient athletics, and ancient Greek technology.
