Gerard de Nerval
Gérard de Nerval was born in Paris in 1808. In 1822, he began his studies at the College Charlemagne, and at the age of 20, he published a translation of "Faust," which not only received praise from Goethe but also established him in French literature. Until 1843, when he began his journey to the East, Nerval published several poems and plays while regularly contributing articles to magazines and newspapers of the time. He ended his life in 1855, after a fifteen-year struggle with madness.
