Prodromos CH. Markoglou

Prodromos H. Markoglou was born in 1935 in Kavala. His parents were refugees from Cappadocia and Pontus. In 1944, he was struck by a German grenade and lost his left hand. He studied at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He has worked in various private enterprises. Since 1971, he has been living in Thessaloniki. He made his literary debut in Kavala in 1962 with the poetry collection "Enclosed." This was followed by the poetry collections "Leveling," Kavala, 1965, "The Waves and the Voices," Thessaloniki, 1971, "The Tooth of the Stone," Thessaloniki, 1975, "Summary Procedure," Thessaloniki, 1980, "Last Promise (1958-1978)," published by Paratiritis, Thessaloniki, 1984, "Monastery Passage," published by Stigmi, Athens, 1989, "Notes for Poems That Were Not Written," published by Cheirographa, Thessaloniki, 1993, "Last Promise (1958-1992)," published by Nefeli, Athens, 1996, "Communion of Dreams," published by Nefeli, Athens, 2002, and the prose works "The Space of Ioanna and the Time of Ioannis," published by Egnatia, Thessaloniki, 1980, "Constant Loss," short stories, published by Kastaniotis, Athens, 1992, "Fragments," novella, published by Nefeli, Athens, 1997, "Escaped the Fate," short stories, published by Nefeli, Athens, 2003, "Fraud," novel, published by Kedros, 2006. His works have been published in newspapers, magazines, and anthologies. Additionally, his works have been translated into English, French, German, Russian, Italian, Polish, and Romanian. He is a member of the Thessaloniki Society of Writers and a founding member of the Society of Authors. He was awarded the State Short Story Prize in 1998 for his book "Fragments" and in 2004 received the short story award from the Academy of Athens (Petros Haris Foundation) for his book "Escaped the Fate."
