Amanta Michalopoulou

Amanda Michalopoulou was born in Athens in October 1966. She studied French Literature in Athens and Journalism in Paris. For many years, she contributed articles to the newspaper "Kathimerini" (1990-2008). She made her literary debut with the short story award from the magazine "Revma" and the short story collection "Outside, Life is Colorful" (1994). She has written eight novels and three short story collections, with the most recent being the novel "Baroque" (2018). She was awarded the Novel Prize from the magazine Diavazo for "Yantes" (1996), the International Literature Prize from the American Federal Foundation for the Arts, and the Liberis Liber Prize from the Independent Catalan Publishers for "I'd Like" (2005), as well as the Short Story Prize from the Petros Haris Foundation of the Academy of Athens for "Bright Day" (2012). Her works have been adapted for the theater and translated into twenty languages. She teaches creative writing at PYRNA and ARTENS and has edited the collective volume "The Secret," featuring works by her students.
