The writer and poet Fótos Kyriázatis was born in 1942 in the village of Lazáti in Northern Epirus. In 1968, he graduated from the Faculty of Philology in Tirana. In his homeland, he published three poetry collections, while a novel and a collection of short stories were rejected for "ideological errors." In 1987, along with his brother and five other compatriots, he was arrested and sentenced to 15 years in prison. They had founded the "BHKA," the Northern Epirote Liberation Movement. In 1992, Akritas Publications released his short stories under the general title "Cry in the Night," and in 1998, his two-volume novel "Listen to What the Wind Whispers to You" was published by Trochalia Publications. Additionally, in 2004, he published the poetry collection "Photoloulouda '87," again with Akritas Publications. Since 1990, he has been living and working in Greece, actively seeking a place in contemporary Greek literature.
