Zülfü Livaneli

Zülfü Livaneli was born in 1946. He is perhaps the most well-known and popular Turkish composer both in his country and worldwide. His songs have been performed by Joan Baez, Maria del Mar Bonet, Udo Lindenberg, and Maria Farantouri. He has also worked as a journalist for the newspapers "Sabah" and "Milliyet." Livaneli is a composer, author, director, and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. With the publication of his first novel in 1997, "The Eunuch of Constantinople," he captivated readers both inside and outside Turkey. The book was translated into many languages and was honored with the Balkan Literary Award.
