Giolanta Pateraki

Yolanda Pateraki was born in Ioannina. She studied English literature and holds a diploma in piano. She collaborates with numerous newspapers and literary magazines. For 31 years, she has served as the General Secretary of the National Society of Greek Writers, is a board member of the Hellenic Society of Literary Translators, a member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic-Indian Association, a member of the Circle of the Greek Children's Book, and a member of the Women's Literary Society. She has participated in national and international literary conferences and has hosted television and radio programs. She has translated many novels and plays from English. She has published 44 books and has won 16 national awards and honors. Her work "The Lady of the Aegean (Syra)" received the State Literature Prize in 1979 and was included in the International Andersen Honorary List (1980). In 1983, she was awarded by the Academy of Athens. In 2000, she was honored by the Circle of the Greek Children's Book with the Penelope Delta Award, and in 2009, she was recognized by the Women's Literary Society with the Tatiana Stavrou Award for her contributions to children.
