Teykros Michailidis

Teucros Michaelides was born in 1954 in Athens and hails from Cyprus. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Pierre et Marie Curie University. Since 1981, he has been teaching mathematics at the secondary education level. He has published articles and studies on the teaching of mathematics, the introduction of information technology in education, and the use of storytelling and history in mathematics instruction. He has collaborated with newspapers such as "Ta Nea," "Eleftherotypia," "Eleftheros Typos," and "Kathimerini." He has translated 28 books from English and French, both literary and scientific, related to mathematics and the history of sciences. In 2006, the French government awarded him the title of Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques. He is a founding member of the group Thales+Friends and the Hellenic Crime Writers Club. His novel "Pythagorean Crimes" ("Polis" 2006) has been translated into six languages—Italian, Spanish, English, Korean, Chinese, and French. For "Ahmes, the Son of the Moon" ("Polis" 2013), he received the State Novel Award of the Republic of Cyprus. He has contributed short stories to the collective volumes "Greek Crimes" 2, 3, and 4 published by Kastaniotis, "Entrance of Danger" by Metaichmio, and the series "Thieves and Policemen" by the radio station "902 Left on FM."
