
Nikolas L. CHristakis
Nikolas Christakis, born in Athens in 1958, is an associate professor in the Department of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Athens. He studied psychology at the University of Besancon and earned his Ph.D. in social psychology from Paris X-Nanterre University. His research interests include identity, social thought and communication, close interpersonal relationships, and rituality. He has published articles in Greek and international journals and has translated and edited numerous scientific (and literary) texts. He is the author of the books "Musical Identities: Life Narratives of Musicians and Bands from the Greek Independent Rock Scene" (1994), "Motorcycle: Risk-taking and the Sacred" (2003), and (in collaboration with Bettina Davou) "Children Talk about Health and Illness: Social Representations of Health and Illness in 10-Year-Old Children" (1994). Additionally, he has co-edited with Klimis Navridis the collections "Identities: Psychosocial Formation" (1997), "Societies in Crisis and the Search for Meaning" (2005), and "The Hypermodern Subject" (2010).
