Georgios Karagiannidis

Georgios K. Karagiannidis is a professor of digital telecommunications systems in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. From 2000 to June 2004, he worked as a Researcher at the Institute for Space Applications & Remote Sensing of the National Observatory of Athens. From 2004 to 2009, he was an Assistant Professor, from 2009 to May 2014, an Associate Professor, and since May 2014, he has been a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His main research activities include Wireless Digital Communications, Cooperative Communication Systems, Wireless Optical Communications, Satellite Communications, and Multiple Input and Output Telecommunication Systems, among others. He was an Editor for Fading Channels & Diversity for the international journal IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Communications Letters, and EURASIP Journal of Wireless Communications & Networking. Since January 2012, he has been the Editor-in-Chief of the international journal IEEE Communications Letters. He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and a Senior Member of IEEE. In 2015, he was included in the global list of 3,000 scientists-researchers by Thomson Reuters who had the most significant scientific influence in the previous year.
