Pavel Kohout

Pavel Kohout, born in Prague in 1928, is considered one of the most renowned Czech authors. A former member of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, he was a leading figure in the Prague Spring of 1968 and a key member of the "Charter 77" movement. Since 1979, he has lived in the West. An Austrian citizen since 1980, Kohout is also associated with the famous Burgtheater in Vienna. He has published numerous plays, and his novels "A Female Executioner" and "My Wife and Her Husband" have been translated into many languages.
