Robert Thomas

French playwright, actor, and director (1927-1989), who incorporated elements of detective fiction into his works, a characteristic that was previously mainly associated with English theater. His most famous work is "Huit femmes" (translated as "Eight Women Accused," 1961, Quai des Orfèvres award), due to its adaptation into a film by director François Ozon in 2002, featuring a cast of well-known French actresses: Catherine Deneuve, Fanny Ardant, Isabelle Huppert, Emmanuelle Béart, among others. Other works include: "Piège pour un homme seul," 1960, "Le Deuxième coup de feu," 1965 (adaptation of a novel by Ladislav Fodor), "Assassins associés," 1965, "Deux chats et une souris," 1965, "La Perruche et le poulet," 1967 (adaptation of a play by Jack Poppelwell), "Freddy," 1969, "Un Ami... imprévu," 1969 (adaptation of Agatha Christie's "The Unexpected Guest"), "Double jeu," 1970, "La Poulette aux œufs d’or," 1973, "La Chambre mandarine," 1974, "La Louve," 1976, "Le Corbeau et la grue," 1977, "Le Nouveau nez," 1978, "Les Bâtards," 1979, "Princesse Baraka," 1981, among others.
