Maurice Druon

Maurice Druon was born in 1918 in Paris. He studied political science and began publishing in literary magazines and newspapers at the age of eighteen. He participated in the French Resistance alongside General de Gaulle, and after the end of the war, he dedicated himself entirely to literature. In 1948, he was awarded the Goncourt Prize for his work "Les grandes familles," and in 1966, he was elected a member of the French Academy. He also served as Minister of Culture from 1973 to 1974, and in 1978, he became a Member of Parliament and a Member of the European Parliament. Since 1981, he has been a member of the Academy of Athens.
